Saturday Weekly Roundup: 5th June 2011
I am at this moment uploading Chapter 6 to Koldcast for a 6th June release, so keep your eyes on the Koldcast viewer here for that. There’s new music of course and new voice actors and it’s really a bit of an improvement.
And of course Chapter 14 still continues, it is real slow, there’s been a lot of schoolwork this last two weeks and the scenes in particular contain a few elements that require me learning some new techniques on Maya, but the good news is that it’s looking very cool!
A bit of side news the Frontier Youtube channel has become a Youtube partner channel, so that means we get a cool little banner up the top of the channel page!
A short little update with the Gencon Film Festival in August, Steve Richards (who voices the evil Captain Wexler) will be attending representing the show, way to go Steve!
So until next week,
Lew
Saturday Weekly Roundup: 28th May 2011
Hi Everyone! Well many apologies about the lack of a roundup last week, I had planned to show off the new Dakota Cruiser Remake but had some massive render issues as I’ve been playing around with fluids in Maya which lets you make clouds, as you’ll see in the video here:
So anyway it took it’s time and therefore the roundup got postponed until now, but the good news is, as well as that cruiser fly by I also have the Dreadnought Remake fly by right here:
You also get to see the Dakota System in that dreadnought video, the planet and its twin moons.
We welcome another new cast member this week, Peter Sandon who will be taking over as Commodore Greene and also Grand Duke Zariz IV, a big welcome to him, Peter has just previously been doing work for my friend Anton Romanyuk (better known as ‘Tolywyn’) playing the role of Admiral Rumley in Wing Commander Saga which should be coming out soon! I can’t wait!
Peter brings with him a massive amount of experience having done voice work for the BBC, Stage Plays, Audiobook Narrations, presentations in the House of Lords, and was even the Narrator for the Sierra and Tilted Mill Comptuer Game – Ceaser IV! -
Very, very cool.
There’s a new introduction video for Spellfury, season 2 is coming soon and it should be very cool, my friend Travis has been hard at work with it, as you can see with all his behind the scenes videos, for the intro vid Travis tells me he got himself a proper official trailer voice guy straight from L.A.! It sounds awesome I must say. See it here
Chapter 14 still progresses I’m happy to report, seems like such a large colossal task doesn’t it? Well I’ve been converting over a few more of the 2D Characters for Scene 31 and making some brand new ones as needed, and that can take it’s time to draw and rig, but we’re coming along pretty well.
The Chapter 6 Redress is coming along well too, the release date is June 6th (isn’t that creepy? Chapter 6 on the 6th of the 6th? Mark of the beast? It is the chapter we first see some real baddies in too), so yeah!
And I’m also pleased to say the two DVD’s made it to Seattle to Gencon, all received so now we wait until August for the event itself!
So that’s it for this fortnight, rest assured there’ll be another roundup right on schedule next Saturday, where I’ll most likely be banging the Chapter 6 drum even more!
Till then,
Lew
Saturday Weekly Roundup: 14th May 2011
First and foremost, thanks so much to the donators, because of you guys Frontier will see the light of day at the 2011 Gencon Film Festival in Indiana in August.
Tonight I shall be compiling and burning 2 DVD copies of Chapters 1-5 (the redressed versions) and tomorrow morning posting them off for Seattle, so very exciting stuff!
Progress on Chapter 14 is very good, Scene 30a is complete and now Scene 31 begins, this is the last scene of Chapter 14 and is possibly the darkest scene in the entire movie!
The redressed Chapter 5 is finished and being uploaded to Koldcast as I type this, once again the music Marc has done here is just amazing! Keep you eyes out for it’s release on Monday 16th May.
I have released the next remade Dakota ship fly-by onto youtube today
Well that’s it till next week!
Lew
We did it!
We have made the entry fee and Frontier is now entered into the 2011 Gen Con Film Festival – thanks so much to everyone who donated, I’ll be in touch real soon!!!

Saturday Weekly Roundup: 7th May 2011
Hi Everyone, two things this week, firstly I’ve been asked if I’d like Frontier to be included in the 2011 GenCon Indy Film Festival, which would be magnificent, it would be some amazing exposure for the series, and also possibly create future opportunities for the show to grow, so I’m gonna do something I don’t usually do….
I’m trying to now raise $40.00 US before the 31st May to cover the entry fee, as you all know I’m a broke-assed student now and don’t have the funds so I’m looking to any fans or followers that wanna help me out here? Just click up in the top corner on donate! Pretty please?
Anyone who donates will get either a: ship, character or place named after them in the series, and also will get featured in the ‘special thanks to’ in the credits (at the end of the film). Simply include your email on your donators info and I’ll be in touch.
Now the second thing, in Chapter 14 we will see a glimpse of the remaining Dakota fleet over Toyr’diablo, now as you know I’m upgrading everything onto Maya, so that means I’ve had to remake the entire Dakota fleet and give them a sprucing up too! Here’s some pics of the Frigate! I’ll be showing off the other ships week to week. Also there’s a fly-by video on youtube of the ship, see it here!
Chapter 14 progresses slowly, as I said, lots of work to do, I’m not sure on a time-frame for release, so sit tight and we’ll cross that bridge soon!
As for the redressed Chapter 5, that will be coming out on Koldcast on May 16th! So keep your eyes peeled!
So that’s it for this week, and remember to include your email on donations so I can get in touch with you!
Thanks guys
Lew
Saturday Weekly Roundup: 30th April 2011
This week has been really productive, we’re into Scene 30a now which is set on the bridge of the Hammer, so I have done a complete remake of the bridge model in Maya and here’s hoping it looks a little nicer. The next big step is a sprucing up of the Dakota ships which until now have felt a little basic and blocky.
A little news on the release of the redressed Chapter 5 – at the moment it’s being prepared and Marc is working his music magic yet again, the release date for Koldcast TV is 16th May – so stay tuned for that.
I’ve included some pictures of the remade bridge of the Hammer, hope you like it.

Saturday Weekly Roundup: 23rd April 2011
Happy Easter everyone, I hope you all did well with your Easter Eggs and got heaps of chocolate? Well chapter 30 is complete, all to do now is add sound effects and then move onto Chapter 30a. But I must say Chapter 30 is looking really good, lots of nice smooth action sequences that seem to be turning out really nice with the 2D/3D combination, as always here’s a screenshot.
Keep your eyes peeled for the redressed Chapter 4 which will be showing up on Koldcast TV on Monday, 25th April and following onto youtube a few days later. The Chapter contains so beautiful music by Marc Teichert and some wonderful voice acting by Steven Richards, so keep an eye out.
Well that’s it for now, stay tuned for more next week!
