Greene’s family history in the navy could be traced all the way back to the civil war of the United States in the latter half of the nineteenth century. Greene moved to Earth when he was eighteen and was accepted into the Naval Academy on Venus.

Greene worked his way up through the service until he was commanding his own vessels – as a Captain he proved himself in the Operation Hammer Fall – the Battle for Hoyle in 2297 when he was in command of the U.S.S. Norfolk (SDD-1093) by forcing his destroyer squadron through the Dakota lines and wiping out an entire Dakota battle group, which greatly helped pave the way the following invasion.

In recognition of this Greene was promoted to Commodore in 2298. His first official duty was to assist in the planning for Operation Red Dirt. Once things were put in motion for Operation Red Dirt, Greene argued with command to allow him to command the invasion group – an argument he eventually won and was put in command of the U.S.S. Canberra (SCG-2008) – the command ship of the Reinager Invasion Group.

The Invasion Group arrived in orbit of Toyr’diablo on the evening of 7th October 2299, Greene ordered CAP fighters to launch immediately, as well as bombers in case any Dakota vessels were present.

Energy weapons began firing from the planet surface, however these were deemed to low a risk to worry about – even after the unfortunate loss of the U.S.S. Dallas (SDD-1088) to one of these stray unguided blasts.

Greene immediately ordered the launching of all dropships, however as soon as this was put into motion, Dakota Space Superiority fighters emerged from the planet. Firehawks from Sabre, Cougar and Viper Squadrons provided cover as the dropships launched as quickly as possible. The small wave of Dakota fighters were soon dealth with.

The Canberra began picking up an unidentified object on radar, Greene ordered the U.S.S. Hammer (SDD-1114) to investigate – detaching it from the Invasion Group. Soon after contact was lost with all ground forces on Toyr’diablo and the Hammer.

In the early hours of 8th October a Dakota Strike Force jumped in right on top of Greene’s invasion group, after the initial surprise Greene quickly ordered all ships to open fire. He then ordered the Canberra forward to assault the Dakota ships, even though outnumbered.

A wave of Dakota Torpedo Bombers launched an attack on the Canberra, one torpedo managed to find it’s way directly into the Plasma Armament Reactor Room – the reactor that powers all the ships main guns with plasma energy, the reactor ignited ripping the ship in two and killing all aboard including Greene.

Greene was an old hand – he was respected only due to his past achievements, he didn’t allow his men to learn much about him personally feeling this would cross the line between leader and follower.
