Ship of the Week: U.S.S. Canberra

The San Diego-Class Cruisers are very powerful ships and are primarily used as fleet escorts to larger ships such as Battleships, Carriers or Dreadnoughts, however Cruisers themselves are often used as command ships of much smaller ship groups.

The Canberra took part in the invasion of Hoyle in 2297, where she was a fleet escort as apart of the 10th Cruiser Squadron.

The Canberra was chosen in 2299 to lead the Reinager Invasion Group, and as it became the group’s flagship – Commodore Arthur Greene was transferred aboard.

Ship of the Week: U.S.S. Roanoke

The Roanoke along with several other Union vessels were destroyed by new Dakota super-cannons that had been fitted to the front of their destroyers and cruisers. The destruction of the Union vessels was so quick and instant that all hands perished.

Quickly after the destruction of the Roanoke, the remaining two vessels, U.S.S. Patton (SCA-703) and U.S.S. Tigershark (SGB-994) retreated, ensuring the destruction of the Nile Road and the decisive loss of the battle.

Ship of the Week: U.S.S. Asimov

In 2299 the Asimov was assigned to Project Hades and ordered behind enemy lines for a top-secret mission to chart what was thought to be a newly-discovered black hole in the Reinager System.

The details surrounding Project Hades are still highly classified and very few people know its intentions.

A distress call was received from Ensign Sarah Keller – the chief communications officer on board soon after the ship entered the system, and the ship was not heard from again.

It is presently listed as Missing in Action, with no known surivors. However soon after the Asimov went missing, Grand Duke Zariz IV ordered Major-General Howell of AFSOR to recruit a top man to track down and information and/or survivors of the Asimov – that man was Major Caine.

Ship of the Week: U.S.S. Hornblower

In 2299, after being ordered back to Earth the Hornblower received 288 troops from Baker and Dog Companies of the 309th Infantry Assault Regiment, 5th Infantry Division under the temporary command of Brigadier-General Rummel, and also one Special Operations Squad from the B.O.S. led by Captain Wexler. Among the troops from Baker Company were 2nd Lieutenant Ender, Platoon Sergeant Stewart, Staff Sergeant Ogilvy, Corporal Ross, Private First Class Paskiwycz, Privates Groenan and Lopez and Private Recruits Devers, Keller and Anderson.

After taking on their human cargo the Hornblower and Patton rendezvoused with the remainder of the Reinager Invasion Group in orbit of Fiersis in the Granedee System. From their the group entered the Reinager system and the Hornblower along with the other ‘Monty’ Destroyers commenced their landing craft operations.

Ship of the Week: U.S.S. Patton

In 2299 the Patton and U.S.S. Hornblower were ordered to Earth to receive troops and pilots for the upcoming invasion of Toyr’diablo in the Reinager System. It was at Earth that the Patton picked up a re-activated Major Caine to resume duties as the ships Air Wing Commander.

The Patton and Hornblower immediately set course for the planet Fiersis in the Granedee System to rendezvous with the Reinager Invasion Group.  From there it was onto Toyr’diablo itself and invasion.

Ship of the Week: U.S.S. Tigershark

The Tigershark was part of the detachment of Union ships from the Imperial 4th Colonial Fleet, assigned to defend the C.S.V. Nile Road during the Battle of Van Gaal. During the engagement the Tigershark provided close fire support to the U.S.S. Roanoake, however after the arrival of a Dakota Cruiser and the subsequent loss of the Roanoake, Captain Krauer of the U.S.S. Patton took command and ordered a full retreat. The Tigershark escorted the Patton to safety, both ships were the only surviving Union vessels of the engagement.

The Tigershark continues to serve in the Union’s Imperial 4th Colonial Fleet in the Horrocks Sector.
