The Roundup: 27th August 2011

Hey everyone again apologies at the absolute mess these updates have fallen into, I had a word given to me by my best friend who also is voicing Petty Officer Skillen in the upcoming Chapters. I was told to get my ass into gear and get these updates rolling again for those who want to read them.

So the tri-weekly roundup will continue as promised, but in the meantime here’s some “in-between” news.

A big welcome to Sven Faulconer who is our new composer, Sven currently works under the legendary James Newton Howard, responsible for scores from ‘Sixth Sense, I am Legend, Green Hornet’, and many more.

Sven has written music for ‘Green Hornet’ as well and has scored a number of his own projects, you can see his IMDB profile here, it’s impressive!

You can also hear some of his stuff at his website here.

Also on StaytunedTV.net Frontier is doing VERY well, at number 2 on the most popular list! With almost 70,000 views! So that’s absolutely fantastic!

Was awesome to see we passed the 250 Subs mark on youtube, as promised the minute we reach 300 I’ll do another behind the scenes vid to say thanks to y’all, I’ll try to make it a bit more in-depth this time too.

We’re expecting Chapter 9 to be coming out around September 3rd, in tandem with its release will be a tri-weekly roundup, and all other chapters are aimed to be every three weeks after that release.

In the meantime as some of you may have noticed I’ve been busy remaking all the models of the ships and releasing fly-by videos to let you see them as they come out, as it stands the remaining fly-by vids will be:

  • B-147 Boxcar Mk II Medium Bomber (rendering now)
  • UC-82 Raven MkII
  • F-214A Blood Falcon Interceptor
  • Dakota Space Superiority Fighter Mk II
  • Dakota Torpedo Bomber Mk II
  • F-219 Accipiter Swiftback Space Superiority Fighter (next-gen fighter that will eventually replace the aging Firehawks)

So that’s the list of models coming out.

So that’s it for now folks,

Until Chapter 9!

The Roundup: 3rd August 2011

Hey everyone! My deepest and sincerest apologies for the lack of anything on here latey, but I wanted the roundup to come out alongside Chapter 8 and we’ve had a few hiccups there, but as you can see it’s out and looking and sounding hot!

I in the meantime have been working on some of the teen Chapters so that when we finally reach them toward the end of this year, they’re ready to go and we can keep up the momentum.

Part of this includes the remodelling of almost everything and as you can see I always chuck a fly-by video up whenever a new model is ready to go, right now I’m remaking the Firehawk, so that should be up on youtube soon too.

For now folks that’s it, but keep your eyes on youtube for some new models and more chapters coming your way.

All in all we’re going well, but not a massive amount to update on, so in the spirit of  a release on Koldcast and Youtube every three weeks the Saturday Weekly Roundup will now be the Saturday Tri-Weekly Roundup to co-incide with the release of a new chapter, this way it will be full of news as more will have occured to report on, so the next time you hear from me (barring little tid bits of news n stuff) will be 16th July 2011. So talk to you then guys!

And stay tuned cos there’s lots more to come!

Saturday Weekly Roundup: 18th June 2011

The Prisoners

Hello again everyone, well I can safely say this week I have putting a big effort into Chapter 14, getting quite a few shots done and am pleased to say it is close to completion, but there is a wee bit of bad news for those of you waiting for an quick release of this chapter, I’ve decided that Chapter 14 will be released in order, meaning not until the redressed Chapter 13 is released first. The upside of this is that from now until then I can work on Chapters 15 upward so that by the time we reach Chapter 14 I will still hopefully be able to release a new chapter every three weeks and maintain the schedule.

Big apologies to those who were after a quick release of this, I have been thinking hard about it for awhile now and decided this will be the best course of action. I will still be releasing new model vids and behind the scenes stuff of course in the meantime along with the three-week release of each Chapter.

As far as Chapter 7 goes, it’s looking good, Marc’s music is amazing as always! And I am getting in the final redone audio lines, Chapter 7 will be released on June 27th.

In regard to Frontier’s screening at the Gencon Indy 2011 Film Festival, the screening time will be Thursday, August 4th at 2pm. There’s a link to the showing here, and this is also where you can obtain tickets (they’re free), however you need to register to see this page (which is easy, quick and also free).  So if your gonna be in Indiana at that time, show your support and come to the screening! Steve Richards who plays Captain Welxer will be there too!

Thanks so much again everyone for your support to the show!

Until next week,

Saturday Weekly Roundup: 11th June 2011

BOOM!!

Chapter 6 came out on June 6th and it looks quite good I’m happy to say! You can see it above on the Koldcast player! I hope you all enjoyed it.

Also on koldcast they did a feature story on movies influenced by UFO’s and aliens and Frontier featured on there, was pretty cool to see it listed beside Battlestar Galactica!!

News on the redress of Chapter 7 – well so far so good, the visuals are looking a little nicer and the voice work for the redone lines is superb! Marc is working tirelessly on the new OST for it and I can’t wait to hear what he has, Chapter 7 will be released on Koldcast June 27th so keep you’re eyes out for that!

I have been putting in heaps of work to Chapter 14 as well, the shots are coming along very nicely (I have included a little picture of one up in the corner) At this point I’m half-way through Scene 31 which is the last scene of Chapter 14, so getting there.

And in side news it’s my birthday coming up (14th June) and it’s my last year of my twenties (29) I really hope I can finish FPTD before I hit 30? I suppose we’ll find out.

Stay tuned for more next week.

Saturday Weekly Roundup: 5th June 2011

Guitterez inside her Grizzly Main Battle Tank

I am at this moment uploading Chapter 6 to Koldcast for a 6th June release, so keep your eyes on the Koldcast viewer here for that. There’s new music of course and new voice actors and it’s really a bit of an improvement.

And of course Chapter 14 still continues, it is real slow, there’s been a lot of schoolwork this last two weeks and the scenes in particular contain a few elements that require me learning some new techniques on Maya, but the good news is that it’s looking very cool!

A bit of side news the Frontier Youtube channel has become a Youtube partner channel, so that means we get a cool little banner up the top of the channel page!

A short little update with the Gencon Film Festival in August, Steve Richards (who voices the evil Captain Wexler) will be attending representing the show, way to go Steve!

So until next week,

Lew

Saturday Weekly Roundup: 28th May 2011

Hi Everyone! Well many apologies about the lack of a roundup last week, I had planned to show off the new Dakota Cruiser Remake but had some massive render issues as I’ve been playing around with fluids in Maya which lets you make clouds, as you’ll see in the video here:

So anyway it took it’s time and therefore the roundup got postponed until now, but the good news is, as well as that cruiser fly by I also have the Dreadnought Remake fly by right here:

You also get to see the Dakota System in that dreadnought video, the planet and its twin moons.

Peter Sandon

We welcome another new cast member this week, Peter Sandon who will be taking over as Commodore Greene and also Grand Duke Zariz IV, a big welcome to him, Peter has just previously been doing work for my friend Anton Romanyuk (better known as ‘Tolywyn’) playing the role of Admiral Rumley in Wing Commander Saga which should be coming out soon! I can’t wait!
Peter brings with him a massive amount of experience having done voice work for the BBC, Stage Plays, Audiobook Narrations, presentations in the House of Lords, and was even the Narrator for the Sierra and Tilted Mill Comptuer Game – Ceaser IV! -

Very, very cool.

There’s a new introduction video for Spellfury, season 2 is coming soon and it should be very cool, my friend Travis has been hard at work with it, as you can see with all his behind the scenes videos, for the intro vid Travis tells me he got himself a proper official trailer voice guy straight from L.A.! It sounds awesome I must say. See it here

Chapter 14 still progresses I’m happy to report, seems like such a large colossal task doesn’t it? Well I’ve been converting over a few more of the 2D Characters for Scene 31 and making some brand new ones as needed, and that can take it’s time to draw and rig, but we’re coming along pretty well.
The Chapter 6 Redress is coming along well too, the release date is June 6th (isn’t that creepy? Chapter 6 on the 6th of the 6th? Mark of the beast? It is the chapter we first see some real baddies in too), so yeah!
And I’m also pleased to say the two DVD’s made it to Seattle to Gencon, all received so now we wait until August for the event itself!
So that’s it for this fortnight, rest assured there’ll be another roundup right on schedule next Saturday, where I’ll most likely be banging the Chapter 6 drum even more!

Till then,

Lew
