Item of the Week: Toyr’diablo

Toyr’diablo is a frontier world of the Dakota Republic, the planet harbors a single colony home to some 600 Dakota settlers and military personnel.

Details are sketchy regarding Toyr’diablo’s past, Union intelligence does know that the planet was first colonized in 2253 by Rinn Salvador a Dakota entrepreneur, who was leading a sponsored drive by the Dakota Senate to colonize frontier worlds.

It is said the very superstitious and devout Salvador named the planet after a red spot he claimed to see in the sky, ‘Toyr’ being Dakota for ‘Red’ and ‘Diablo’ being Salvador’s native Spanish for ‘Devil’.

Salvador setup Toyr’diablo as a scenic paradise in the Dakota Tourism Bureau and after contact with the Terran Imperial Union – the planet saw quite a lot of nature tourism.

However in 2294 with tensions dramatically increasing with the Union – the Dakota Military seized control of the planet and transformed the old tourist colony into a military base that would house the personnel there and their families.

Item of the Week: U.S.S. Hazen Dunfee

The U.S.S. Hazen Dunfee began her service supporting the Imperial 8th Colonial Fleet, situated in the Korsor and Border L Sectors.

The Dunfee did not take part in the invasion of Hoyle, and was instead assigned with various other Union ships to continue patrolling the borders and maintaining perimeter defence.

The Dunfee saw her first real engagement with the disastrous debacle that was The First Battle of Toyr’diablo. There the Dunfee provided air support with her fighter and bombers squadrons; however when the battle turned into a nightmare after the early loss of the U.S.S. Canberra (SCG-2008) and the utter chaos that followed, the Dunfee took on all surviving fighters and escaped the system alongside the U.S.S. Astoria (SDD-1085) and U.S.S. Moray (SFG-844).
