Character of the Week: Aiden Nichols

Nichols Squadron found itself serving in Operation Red Dirt in 2299 as the first wave of the invasion of Toyr’diablo, alongside his long-time pilot and friend Chief Warrant Officer Ronald Koenig, who he had served with since Operation Hammer Fall – the invasion of Hoyle in 2297.

Nichols is a top-rate pilot but can be easily spooked, some of his passengers get a little uneasy with such a jumpy co-pilot being so close to the controls.

Character of the Week: Arthur Greene

Arthur Greene was promoted to Commodore in 2298 and his first official duty was to assist in the planning for Operation Red Dirt. Once things were put in motion for Operation Red Dirt, Greene argued with command to allow him to command the invasion group – an argument he eventually won and was put in command of the U.S.S. Canberra (SCG-2008) – the command ship of the Reinager Invasion Group.

Greene is an old hand – he is respected only due to his past achievements, he doesn’t allow his men to learn much about him personally feeling this would cross the line between leader and follower.

Character of the Week: Tai-Keng Chen

Chen was the chief science officer aboard the U.S.S. Asimov (SDX-6152). He was primarily known as a no-nonsense officer who took his job more seriously than any other man, so much so that he had no family as a result.

Chen has been officially listed as ‘missing in action’ along with all hands of the Asimov, however no details of their mission are available.

Character of the Week: Ronald Koenig

In 2297 Koenig took part in the invasion of Hoyle with his new co-pilot Senior Warrant Officer Aiden Nichols. The two survived the campaign complete unscathed, however it did teach Koenig a few lessons about keeping the flight as turbulence free as possible – he and Nichols were made to clean the vomit out of the rear of the carryall after their landed.

Koenig is a skilled carryall pilot who appreciates the danger posed to himself his men and his craft when landing in the middle of a battle zone.

Character of the Week: James Sears

The Hammer was involved in one of many border incidents in 2291 that saw it almost destroyed by Dakota privateers. The Hammer managed to drive the privateers off, but was badly damaged. Sears’ engine section was badly hit and there was a hull breach. Sears managed to save more than half his engine crew – who in turn were pivotal in repairing the Hammer’s engines enough to get it back safely into deeper Union territory,  however he was forced sacrifice the lives of eight of his men by sealing them in a compartment that was depressurising, in order to save the ship. This decision would be one he would never forget.

The Hammer went into dry-dock for two months at the Jupiter Naval Yards and most of her surviving crew were transferred, Sears suffering from guilt, chose to stay and was in-turn promoted to X.O. serving under Captain Stark.

The Hammer was re-assigned to the Imperial 8th Colonial Fleet and took part in the invasion of Hoyle in 2297.

In 2299 Sears learned his ship would be a part of the upcoming invasion of the Reinager System, he vowed he would not lose any more men.

Sears is a man of high integrity and his men know it, while he may have been a bit of a wildcard in his youth, ever since losing men under his command he is a man who sticks to the rules. Sears still suffers from guilt at losing his men eight years ago and he will do whatever it takes to gain redemption.
