Saturday Weekly Roundup: 3rd July 2010

I know that this part is taking its damn sweet time, but let’s just say making a battle scene between a opposing fleets is quite complex – one 300 frame shot I did yesterday took twelve hours to do.

The last week has however been massively productive in terms of how much is actually in this latest scene (Scene 25 – the final scene of Part 11). I have managed to squeeze another 10% into the completion status since the last update so by that rule, we should be looking at another 1-2 weeks.

Part 11 as it stands is at 79% Complete and we’re probably looking at a full ten minute part here so you’ll understand if it has taken a little longer than usual.

I will tell you though that the satisfaction is pretty cool when you see a completed shot you have done of a Union cruiser launching an attack run against a Dakota fleet hehe.

One other thing to be said is we are going to see a couple of reoccurring characters get iced this part, so if you’ve grown fond of any of them, then brace yourselves lol.

Last week you’ll remember me saying I was going to be victorious in my monopoly campaign against my wife, well this failed miserably and I lost badly – again. I’ve let her wear the monopoly crown…for now.

Well hopefully next week I can manage to add let’s say 15% more onto that completion status.

Stay tuned for the next Saturday Weekly Roundup – next week.

Im confused. Who is fireing the green lasers?

  • Hey Sean,
Union fire yellow lasers, Dakota fire green lasers

  • Sean:

Oh hmmm i wonder if the lasers they use are diffrent at all. It is very possible that since they are so close to each other at the border that most of the tech is the same. However it may also be true that the tech the nations have isn’t the same and these are two totally diffrent weapons since they were in a cold war for what a good 30 to 40 years am I correct?

Or is it even possible that the union may have the larger fleet but are out dated when it comes to tech. Or it could even be that they have the smaller fleet but even better tech that the Dakota might have. When the cold war started the russkies launched Spuntnik. Now the U.S. once again went into fear as usual “Oh no!” they cried. they were years behind in tech with the USSR when it came to space tech. But in the late 50′s and during the 60s the USA got it’s act together and put a man on the moon.

However the real question is this when it comes to warfare? Are you willing to put faith in your tech when it comes time for battle? Tech can only do so much with it. It’s the men in combat who make the real diffrence. Even that being said the conclusion I think is this:

The two star nations have the same tech or close enough.
