Saturday Weekly Roundup: 26th June 2010

This week has been more productive with the completion of Scene 24a and the beginning of Scene 25 (the final scene of Part 11).

Part 11 is now at about 68% Completion putting it over two-thirds done.  So it shouldn’t be too long before we’re releasing, as always I really don’t want to give a date as I’d most likely be wrong, but I would estimate another 1-2 weeks.

This week has also consisted of much watching of some classic Star Trek – The Next Generation episodes (Unification, Cause and Effect, Relics, Best of Both Worlds, etc) and some deeply enthusiastic Monopoly gaming, where I finally intend to destroy my wife, which continues today so wish me luck.

I must say that the book I’m reading at the moment ‘The Passage’ by Justin Cronin is turning out to be pretty epic, so if you’re a fan of apocalyptic style stuff, and viral outbreaks, I highly recommend it.

Well that’s it from me for now.

Stay tuned for the next Saturday Weekly Roundup – next week.

Saturday Weekly Roundup: 19th June 2010

This week has been slightly slower, once again it comes back to the slightly higher amount of model making that is going on – Part 11 has only crept up to 56% as it stands right now.

But the good news is, I have completed the 2D Dakota troops which means I can now start rocketing through the remainder of Scene 24a. And then comes Scene 25 – the last scene of Part 11, this scene is going to be huge, everyone who has been waiting for a space battle will hopefully be pleased. That’s all I say for now about that.

Big Happy Birthday to voice actor Johnny Voruz (Koenig, Stewart) who on today (Friday in the U.S.) turned 28 years old! Just like me on Monday.

I purchased three novels yesterday as I haven’t read any good ones in sometime, hopefully these three will be just what I’m after, they are all action/thrillers the first being ‘The Passage’ by Justin Cronin, about a post-apocalyptic world after something bad has happened (I’m reading that first), the seconds is ‘Patient Zero’ by Jonathan Maberry, to do with (of course) zombies – epic! And the third is ‘The Strain’ by Guillermo Del Toro (Hellboy) and Chuck Hogan – to do with some sort of virus, sounds awesome.

Well I’m off to dive into more Part 11 animating.

Stay tuned for the next Saturday Weekly Roundup – next week.

Saturday Weekly Roundup: 12th June 2010

Well this week we’ve reached just over half-way on Part 11, we are now at 52% completion, you may notice a slight slowdown in progress as there are more models I will need to be making which of course take time to do.

With the upcoming action sequences, we now finally see a glimpse of some Dakota Troops, and also some more Dakota craft and ships.

A few little issues this week with my backup drive, which was slightly concerning, however it’s all fixed now and working fine, I’m sure some of you remember the massive debacle earlier this year with my backing up of work. I’m glad to say everything is safe and sound.

It’s my birthday on Monday, and I shall be turning 28 – closer and closer to 30, it seems there’s no avoiding it. What this does mean for Frontier is that I won’t be doing as much work as I’d like to on it today as myself and a friend will be having our joint birthday party tonight.

So where is Frontier Prelude to Darkness in terms of overall completion? Some people have inquired about this. The point in the story we are at right now would be around half-way so that means of course the final part of FPTD should be something like Part 22-24, let’s see if I’m right in about 8-10 months time shall we?

Well that’s it for now, stay tuned for more later.

Saturday Weekly Roundup: 5th June 2010

So it’s been very quiet this week on the site, but I must tell you that focusing completely on Part 11 has paid off. You may have also noticed that the facebook page has been a little quiet too and it doesn’t look like much progress is being made,  eg – it only went up 5% this entire week. That is because I have changed the formula at which I measure the percentages, before it was based on the Part being roughly 8 minutes long (which is where it was at 31%) but as Part 11 is going to have a lot in it, I have changed the formula to be based Part being 10 minutes long (and as of yesterday I have gotten it to 35%) so you can see that much work is being done.

Let me also say that in this part, we will finally see some Dakota troops too.

And fear not, I will be returning to the Craft Profile, Character of the Week and Ship of the Week after a few more parts have been completed.

Part 11 contains three main scenes, I am pleased to say the first one is complete and I am diving into the next one, the third scene is one I’ve been wanting to make for awhile so I’m looking forward to that.

You may notice I am attempting to do a fan drive on the facebook page, with a little pushing from a friend ;) . So spread the word and suggest your friends like the page, and let’s see if we can get some numbers up there.

Well that’s it for now, it’s literally 8:30am Saturday morning and I am going to be spending the entire day working on Part 11 today – thanks goes out to my patient wife J.

Stay tuned for more later
