Voice Actor: Wesley Ferguson

Wesley developed a love for epic science fiction from an early age, gorging himself on Star Trek, Star Wars, and the mighty Wing Commander.

Starting in high school, he developed an intense interest in history, and translated that interest into a history degree, which he earned from Purdue University in 2007.

Along with sci-fi and history, his interests include heavy metal and spending way too much money on comic books. One day, he hopes to channel these disparate interests into a successful writing career. Wesley has been crafting stories since the third grade, and continue to write and hone his skills to this day, creating works in many genres, including sci-fi, horror, fantasy, Westerns, historical, and crime fiction.

Wesley currently voices Commander Byran Gatlander of the U.S.S. Canberra and additional voices – he’ll also be voicing other significant parts that are coming up on Frontier in the near future.

Saturday Weekly Roundup: 13th March 2010

This week has been I suppose you could say a sort of cool off period after finishing Part 8. Let me also say I really appreciate all the comments good or bad on Part 8. I would also like to say a big thanks to WCNews.com for all their coverage of the series, you guys totally rock!

The week hasn’t totally been squandered I have had time to read some of the Battlestar Libra fan fiction from www.battlestarcentral.com – may I say that the caliber of writing here is superb! These people should seriously be writing novels with this sort of skill. I really urge everyone to head over there and have a read.

As much as I tried not to work on Frontier this week I failed – I have already written all the scene briefs and fully written the dialogue and screen direction for the first scene of Part 9 and sent the appropriate lines out to my epic voice actors (you know who you guys are!).

Next week I’m gonna start the ball rolling at full steam on Part 9 – getting all the other scenes written up and lines sent out and if possible begin animating. I’ll be sure to keep regular updates on the Frontier facebook page as-it-happens.

In other news, this week I discovered what I think to be one of the best TV shows I’ve seen in a long long while – a little show called Journeyman which was made in 2007.

The real tragic thing about this show is it was put in a crap time-slot and had uber-crap marketing (its 2010 and I only just heard about it) and then was cancelled after 13 episodes due to ‘bad ratings’ and the 2007-2008 WGA Strike – Absolute shocker. This show was screened here in New Zealand in September 2009 at 11:30pm on Monday nights – WTF?! Who the hell is up then to watch TV?

The show is about a guy who involuntarily time-travels (thinking Dr Sam Beckett here?) and goes back to help people with various problems,  needless to say I would give this show 5 stars the acting is perfect, the story twists are great and you’re thoroughly pulled into it. Definitely something else I urge anyone and everyone to have a nosy at – for anyone inside the U.S. you can see it on hulu.com.

Well that’s it from me for now, so stay tuned for more later.

Some More Wallpaper Perhaps?

A few more wallpapers here from Part 8 – resolutions featured are: 1152×864 and 1280×800 – if you need any of these in a different res, just let me know and I’ll post them up here.

Enjoy!

Ship of the Week: U.S.S. Hammer

Under the command of Captain Stark and Lieutenant-Commander Sears in 2297 the Hammer was transferred to the Imperial 8th Colonial Fleet to assist in Operation Hammer Fall – the invasion of Hoyle.

The following year the Hammer went into dry-dock for further upgrades, mainly the upgrade of her hull. Imperial 8th Colonial Fleet Command after the discovery of the Dakota super-cannons at the Battle of Van Gaal VI two years earlier, sought to upgrade the armour of their vessels from the ageing Multi-Layered P.E.S.C.A.H. (Plasma Enriched Super-Chobam Armoured Hull) to the more powerful and newly created P.H.A.R.A.O.H. (Plasma Heat-Active Reinforced Agent On Hyperplatinum) Armour.

In 2299 the Hammer was assigned to Operation Red Dirt – the invasion of Toyr’diablo, the Hammer was thus transferred to the Reinager Invasion Group.

Character of the Week: James Sears

The Hammer was involved in one of many border incidents in 2291 that saw it almost destroyed by Dakota privateers. The Hammer managed to drive the privateers off, but was badly damaged. Sears’ engine section was badly hit and there was a hull breach. Sears managed to save more than half his engine crew – who in turn were pivotal in repairing the Hammer’s engines enough to get it back safely into deeper Union territory,  however he was forced sacrifice the lives of eight of his men by sealing them in a compartment that was depressurising, in order to save the ship. This decision would be one he would never forget.

The Hammer went into dry-dock for two months at the Jupiter Naval Yards and most of her surviving crew were transferred, Sears suffering from guilt, chose to stay and was in-turn promoted to X.O. serving under Captain Stark.

The Hammer was re-assigned to the Imperial 8th Colonial Fleet and took part in the invasion of Hoyle in 2297.

In 2299 Sears learned his ship would be a part of the upcoming invasion of the Reinager System, he vowed he would not lose any more men.

Sears is a man of high integrity and his men know it, while he may have been a bit of a wildcard in his youth, ever since losing men under his command he is a man who sticks to the rules. Sears still suffers from guilt at losing his men eight years ago and he will do whatever it takes to gain redemption.

Saturday Weekly Roundup: 6th March 2010

Well this week has been very busy, much work has gone into Part 8 which I’m very happy to announce is finally finished, with all the sound levels checked, all the pictures rendered and it shall be released later today!

Much work has gone into the foliage of the planet as will be quite evident, we will also see the creation of a new main character – Lieutenant Commander James Sears voiced by Kevin McCulley, Sears is going be in for the long haul and his story is going to be a tough one, which will be clear to see in the next few parts.

One of my close friends has gone off to Europe to travel for two whole years – lucky schmuck! Before he left he gave me back a birthday present I gave him years ago – the first season of Kojack on DVD – total schmuck! And so in my downtime (render-time) I’ve become quite acquainted with Lt. Theo Kojack and may I say for a 1973 crime series – this – is – freaken – awesome! So for the last two weeks my downtime has been split between the first season of Kojack and Fringe – both very epic.

On a slightly humorous note, I discovered that youtube has implemented a new word recognition subtitle program for it’s videos – basically it listens to what gets said and does it best to guess it and put it into subtitles for hard of hearing. So I did what any youtube user should do and I put it to the test with Frontier – Prelude to Darkness: Part 7.

After doing this I now believe youtube has some vested interest in the elections, please see below….

Paski explains the voter merits

'Red' confirms the voters are pleased

Yes Paski time flies in the senate...

'Red' revelas he once murdered a woman...great guy to have in the dropship next to you

Somehow Koenig has mistaken Ender for one of Capitol Hill's finest...

Koenig may be partial to Bill though...

But don't worry Commodore Greene tells us exactly where it's all happening...
